Contemporary Forms of Relationship with the Qur'an in Pakistani Society: An Analytical Study in the Light of Islamic Teachings

Abstract

The Quran is the word of Allah that was revealed to His Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and is recited as an act of worship. Qur’an is the main constitution of a Muslim’s life. It brings light and gives certainty, it is the strong rope, and it is the path of the righteous. Derogation is defined as disrespect, neglect, or non-compliance towards the teachings, principles, and values of the Qur'an. The research investigates manifestations such as selective adherence, distortion of meanings, and neglect of moral obligations. This research examines the derogation of the Qur'an in Pakistani society, exploring its causes, effects, and proposing a solution based on Islamic teachings. Utilizing mixed methods, including surveys, observations, and unstructured interviews, the study aims to shed light on the phenomenon comprehensively. In this article, several instances of mockery of the Qur'an and its message in Pakistani society have been explores and highlighted, considering the verse 30 of Surah Al-Furqan. These instances of mockery contribute to ridicule within society. The reasons behind such derogatory attitudes have been addressed, and the effects on society have been discussed in detail. Furthermore, the article presents a solution based on Islamic teachings to address this issue. It emphasizes the importance of avoiding mockery and disrespect towards the Qur'an. In conclusion, this research enhances understanding of the causes and effects of Qur'an derogation in Pakistani society. It offers insights and recommendations for individuals, scholars, educators, and policymakers to address the issue and promote a stronger connection with the Qur'an.
