Allah Almighty has created humans in the finest form, distinguished by unique facial features and physical beauty. Over time, humans have developed various methods to enhance their appearance, leading to the emergence of aesthetic surgery as a distinct medical field. This study explores the different types of aesthetic surgery in the modern era, analyzing their jurisprudential and ethical implications within an Islamic framework. While aesthetic surgery offers opportunities for personal empowerment and improved self-esteem, its permissibility in Islam hinges on necessity and adherence to Shariah principles, as altering Allah’s creation without valid reason is discouraged (Qur’an, 4:119). The research traces the historical evolution of cosmetic surgery, from ancient Egyptian and Indian practices to modern microsurgery, highlighting its growing popularity driven by societal pressures and media influence. The study employs a narrative and analytical methodology to determine the boundaries of aesthetic surgery, addressing its psychological, social, and ethical impacts. It emphasizes the need for balanced decision-making, realistic expectations, and thorough consultation to avoid disappointment. Islamic jurists like Mufti Muhammad Shafi and others provide insights into concepts like “changing Allah’s creation” and “imitation,” guiding the permissibility of such procedures. The findings underscore that aesthetic surgery should align with Islamic ethics, prioritizing medical necessity and personal well-being over vanity. This research aims to define clear limits for aesthetic surgery, ensuring its practice respects both individual aspirations and religious principles.
