This study examines the boundaries and limitations of using Maqasid al-Shariah (objectives of Islamic law) to address contemporary issues. Maqasid al-Shariah, which focuses on the higher objectives of Islamic law such as the protection of religion, life, intellect, lineage, and property, offers a framework for interpreting and applying Islamic principles to modern challenges. This research explores how these objectives can be effectively applied in resolving new and complex issues while also addressing the limitations and challenges faced in this process. By analyzing contemporary cases and legal scenarios, the study investigates the practical constraints and theoretical boundaries of employing Maqasid al-Shariah in modern jurisprudence. The research aims to provide a balanced view on how far the objectives of Shariah can guide legal reasoning and decision-making in today’s context, offering insights into the dynamic interaction between traditional jurisprudential principles and evolving societal needs.
