Abstract

This research paper presents a comprehensive study of the scholarly services of Al-Qari Al-Muqri Muhammad Idrees Al-Asim (RA) in the fields of Tajweed and Qira’at. Renowned as one of the distinguished scholars of the subcontinent, he devoted his entire life to the teaching, compilation, and dissemination of the Qur’anic sciences. His contributions span various branches including Tajweed, Qira’at, Rasm, Waqf, enumeration of verses, and Qur’anic similarities, reflecting his profound expertise and unique scholarly approach. The study highlights more than thirty of his works, which cover fundamental and advanced aspects of Tajweed and Qira’at. These works not only exhibit his mastery of traditional sources but also his pedagogical vision to simplify complex issues for students and teachers alike. His methodology combines classical principles with practical applications, making his writings significant for both academic and teaching purposes. Furthermore, this paper examines his distinctive style of writing, characterized by clarity, systematic arrangement, and a balance between brevity and comprehensiveness. It also explores his specialized contributions that enriched the heritage of Qur’anic sciences in the subcontinent and beyond. The research concludes that Al-Asim’s works remain a valuable resource for contemporary scholars, researchers, and teachers, offering guidance in preserving the authentic recitation traditions of the Holy Qur’an.
