Abstract

Undoubtedly, Quranic readings, both (mutawātir) and (shāḏḏah), are among the most important topics studied by scholars due to their connection to the Holy Qur’an. This is because they offer a variety of meanings and have a significant impact on understanding the Quranic text, in clarifying or elaborating its meanings, and so forth. Despite the significant importance researchers have placed on the Qirāʾāt al-mutawātira, Qirāʾāt al-shāḏḏah are often overlooked in comprehending Quranic meanings, particularly regarding theological issues. Hence, this matter requires intensive study to shed light on Qirāʾāt al-shāḏḏah and clarify its role in this field. This study aims to explore the role of Qirāʾāt al-shāḏḏah in shaping Islamic faith in general, and in understanding theology in particular.
