This research examines the extent to which Pakistani traders in various sectors adhere to Islamic business principles, focusing on ethics such as honesty, fairness, trust, transparency, and avoidance of interest (riba). The study employs a qualitative methodology, conducting in-depth interviews with five traders operating in sectors including online retail, furniture, grocery, vehicles, and food grains. The findings reveal that while most traders demonstrate a willingness and intention to conduct their businesses in accordance with Shariah guidelines, complete adherence remains limited due to factors such as insufficient formal knowledge of Islamic commercial jurisprudence, competitive market pressures, and the growing complexities of modern business models. The study highlights partial compliance, particularly in profit-based selling, leasing, and partnership arrangements, where conventional practices sometimes overshadow Shariah requirements. Despite these challenges, the traders expressed a strong inclination toward ethical conduct, reflecting their recognition of Islamic values as integral to long-term sustainability and customer trust. The research underscores the necessity of systematic training, Shariah awareness programs, and practical financial alternatives that are interest-free and transparent. By proposing feasible models for ethical business practices, the study aims to contribute to the development of a more authentic Islamic business environment in Pakistan, bridging the gap between theoretical principles and practical implementation in contemporary trade.
