This research paper provides a thematic study of al-Shayṭān (Satan) in the light of the Qur’ān and Sunnah. The Qur’ān introduces Shayṭān as the eternal adversary of humankind, whose disobedience and arrogance led to his rejection from divine mercy. His enmity toward Adam (A.S.) and his progeny is manifested through deception, pride, jealousy, false promises, and whispering evil thoughts. The Sunnah further elaborates on his tricks and strategies, highlighting how he influences individuals, families, and societies by sowing discord, encouraging disobedience, and promoting immorality. Despite his persistent efforts, the Qur’ān affirms that Satan’s power is limited; he can only mislead through suggestion and has no compulsion over believers who rely on Allah. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasized the importance of seeking refuge in Allah, regular recitation of Qur’ānic verses such as Āyat al-Kursī, and remembrance (dhikr) as key means of protection. This study also sheds light on the dangers of practices inspired by satanic influences, such as sorcery, false oaths, envy, and superstition, which weaken faith and disrupt social harmony. Moreover, the examples from the Prophet’s life and his companions demonstrate the importance of vigilance against the enemy’s plots, whether in spiritual or worldly matters. The paper concludes that awareness of Shayṭān’s schemes, combined with obedience to Allah and His Messenger, humility, unity, and strong faith, is essential for individual and collective success. Thus, the Qur’ān and Sunnah serve as comprehensive guides to safeguard believers against Satan’s deceptions.
