Abstract

Sheikh Shuaib Arnaut was a great Muhaddith and researcher who presented research on dozens of books. Sheikh Shuaib Al-Arnaut supervised or researched over 240 volumes, including Prophetic history, jurisprudence, Quranic exegesis, biographies, creed, hadith terminology, and literature etc.Sheikh Shuaib Al-Arnaut's research on Musnad Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal is an unparalleled scholarly effort.In which he skillfully employed both ancient and modern principles for the authentication and weakening of hadiths.In which he skillfully employed both ancient and modern principles for the authentication and weakening of hadiths. The primary purpose of this research was not only to review the chains of narration and the reliability of the narrators, but also to thoroughly examine the text of the hadith to determine its authenticity. Sheikh Al-Arnaut utilized books of rijal on a large scale, conducting in-depth research on each narrator's scholarly status, reliability, and various aspects of their lives. An important aspect of Shuaib Al-Arnaut's research was his meticulous examination of the continuity and discontinuity of the chains of narration, to determine if the hadith's chain is strong and reliable or not. Concurrently, he thoroughly examined the text of the hadith to identify possible irregularities, contradictions, or underlying causes that may affect its authenticity. Through this approach, he not only follows the principles of ancient Muhaddithin but also presents a comprehensive and detailed analysis of hadith authenticity, considering modern academic requirements. Sheikh Al-Arnaut's methodology is a beautiful blend of ancient and modern scientific standards. He based his research not only on the sayings and principles of Muhaddithin, but also incorporated modern scientific research. This research clarifies the classification of hadiths and adopts a standardized approach to distinguish between authentic and weak hadiths, further solidifying the scholarly significance of Musnad Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal. Shuaib Al-Arnaut's research has proven to be a valuable treasure not only for scholars but also for general readers. He gave a new perspective to the arrangement, explanation, and authentication of Musnad Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal's hadiths, which is of utmost importance in hadith studies. His scholarly effort evaluated Musnad by new standards and further legitimized its authentication and weakening process.
