Abstract

This is an important scholarly topic that presents a research-based and comparative analysis of the methodology, style, and principles of two fundamental hadith collections, Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. This study aims to shed light on the scholarly and technical inclinations of the authors, Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim, the principles of compiling hadith, the criteria for accepting narrations, and the differences and similarities between the two books. Both books have established stringent principles for the selection of hadiths. Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim adopted different methods for scrutinizing the chain of transmission (isnad) and the text (matn) of hadiths. Each book organizes its hadiths in a specific order. The shared principles of both authors are also analyzed in this study. For students and researchers of the science of hadith, understanding the methodology of these two works is essential to better comprehend their scholarly depth and principles. This study not only aids in understanding the methodology of Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim but also provides a foundation for assessing the standards of other works in the field of hadith.
