Terrorism is a persistent global issue that has affected nations worldwide, intensifying in the 21st century. Pakistan, in particular, has faced severe challenges due to terrorism, especially in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States. The consequences of terrorism are devastating, resulting in loss of life, economic setbacks, and international reputational damage. Understanding terrorism requires a comprehensive analysis of its definition, causes, and potential solutions. Islam, as a religion of peace, strongly condemns terrorism, considering the unjust killing of a single human being equivalent to the murder of all humanity. In Pakistan, state institutions, security forces, and the general public have played a crucial role in countering terrorism. However, an often-overlooked yet significant force in this battle is religious journalism. Religious publications and media platforms have actively worked to promote interfaith harmony, denounce terrorism, and counter extremist ideologies. Through editorials, articles, and scholarly discussions, religious journalism has shaped public opinion and strengthened national unity against terrorism. This study explores the concept of terrorism, its root causes, Islamic perspectives on its prohibition, and the efforts made to prevent it. Furthermore, it highlights the impact of religious journalism in promoting peace and sectarian harmony in Pakistan. The role of religious media in raising awareness and combating extremist narratives is essential for establishing long-term peace and stability in the country.
